Tzaneen Dam is set in the tropical area of South Africa and is surrounded by tea, banana, fruit plantations. To access the lake, a drive along several kilometres of tracks through dense mature eucalyptus forests is required. When you emerge from the forest it was well worth the trip as the dam is fantastic to look at and just oozes big fish, it really is breathtaking!

On a recent 7 day trip, 83 fish were landed, 35lb being the average size of each fish but several were knocking on the door of forty.

Gary Hoden of African Gold and Chub consultant Dean Gay recently fished Tzaneen for 4 nights and had some awesome fishing which you may have read aboutin the angling press, with fish up to 39lb 13oz and an awesome fully scaled mirror just under the forty pound mark.

Every fish in Tzaneen is a winner with a even spread of mirrors and commons with long, short, fat and lean all being present. These fish are some of the best in the world.

Local fisherman have caught fish well in excess of 50 lbs and the lake record standing at 62lb.
This venue can not help but please and hook the pro angler and the novice and has awesome potential and will be  a top world venue very soon so don't delay come and do some pioneering before they all come.
