Gary Hoden first came to South Africa in 1999 when African Gold was first set up. Gary had a trip or two under his belt before he returned to South Africa to live and be a guide for African Gold. This was a great move for Gary as he had fallen in love with Africa and the Klaserie Dam in particular. Kalserie Dam is Gary’s favourite place in the world and he is the most successful angler on the dam. Gary has now taken over African Gold.  

Gary is no stranger to big fish, he has landed over thirty 40lb fish in Africa and most have been caught in the wilds. Garyhas had six 50lb plus fish from South Africa, a 50Lb fish from Romania and to top it all, a 70lb fish from Germany.

Gary lives on the side of Donaldson Dam, he wants all his customers to have the most memorable trip possible and he bends over backwards to make sure that this happens, Gary is living the dream and it’s good to live it as well even if it’s only a couple of weeks.

A week at any of the venues is exciting enough but combination trips are also available. Why not spend longer and try out two or three of the waters in one trip? Depending on your choice sight-seeing excursions are available, including bush drives, visits to the famous Sun City... even elephant backed safaris.
